Senior living deserves a better story
I’m Douglas Sorenson, founder of Palm Springs Senior Advisors — and before I stepped into the world of senior living, I was helping new stories come to life on stage.
My early career was spent in theater and new play development in New York City, later continuing in Los Angeles. I was always drawn to work that explored what it means to be human — stories that honored complexity, vulnerability, and transformation.
Then the world shifted. Like so many, the pandemic pulled me into unfamiliar territory — and that’s where I found senior living. What began as a part-time sales role quickly unfolded into something far more meaningful. I found myself connecting with families at some of the most tender, uncertain moments of their lives. And that changed everything.
I’ve worked inside both large corporate systems and close-knit local communities, helping families navigate independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Along the way, I gained a deep understanding of the industry and formed meaningful, lasting relationships — but most importantly, I saw what was missing.
I saw national brands prioritizing metrics over meaning.
I saw families overwhelmed, underserved, and unsure who to trust.
And I knew: this story could be told differently.
That’s why I created Palm Springs Senior Advisors — to offer the kind of personalized, compassionate, no-cost guidance I believe every family deserves. My approach is human-first, locally grounded, and rooted in listening. Whether you’re navigating a crisis or planning ahead, I’m here to walk with you — step by step — until the right place truly feels like home.
This work is more than a profession for me. It’s a continuation of what I’ve always loved: being part of someone’s story at a meaningful moment. And helping make that story a little more hopeful, a little more clear, and a lot more supported.
Let’s rewrite this story together.
